David Bowie – We Are the Dead
"We are the dead," a song written by David Bowie for the Diamond Dogs album in 1974. The title is a set of Winston Smith and Julia in George Orwell's novel 1984, said the basis for the second half of Bowie's album. This is to cover Bowie's interpretation of the couple, and Winston's thoughts about the whole affair. He acknowledges that they probably should as they could have ended before it was too late. However, it is too late, as the song says: "… because all we have seen,because everything we have said we are the dead … "
